I really loved writing a post around this theme before, it’s quite cathartic and relaxing. I’ve also just made myself a coffee, so it seems like the perfect time to sit down and write a follow up to a post I first wrote a good few months ago, when my life was in a different place…
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I wasted my last few months in Holland. I thought I was ready to come home so I went through the motions, visited the same few cafes, the same few bars and did the same things I’d been doing all year, waiting for that inevitable journey home. Now I’m back at uni in England I’d give anything to go back to Nijmegen and tick off a load of bucket list stuff I never did. I never canoed down Utrecht’s canal!!!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I’m not one of those people who claims not to believe in regrets. Those people who say ‘everything happens for a reason’ have clearly never considered the possibility that maybe nothing happened for no reason other than laziness, when in fact, you could’ve made something happen!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that two weeks back into the swing of things at uni and actually, it’s not going too badly! I’m on top of my reading, I’ve been to class (a rarity for me), and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Yesterday I had my first face to face meeting with my dissertation supervisor- it was all positive and I’m ready to get stuck in!
If we were having coffee I’d tell you I’m still bloody unemployed!! I had a trial shift at a bakery the other day, but I’ve got to wait at least a week before I’ll hear back, but I live in some sort of hope.
If we were having coffee I’d probably have a little moan that my bedrooms too messy and I really need to outgrow this part of my life where I hate cleaning. I’m looking around now and my clothes are e v e r y w h e r e and it’s not a good look. GAH.
If we were having coffee I’m sure I’d throw in the fact that I managed to get a ticket to Bon Iver in London in February. I’m so flipping excited. I listened almost exclusively to them over summer, and they’re up there in my all time favourite bands. I also have some great memories of sitting round listening to the latest album with some study abroad friends, so a hint of nostalgia may creep into the gig.
Anyway, thats enough for now. I’ve finished my coffee and exhausted my catharsis! I hope you enjoyed reading- thanks for that! Please make sure you do follow me- it means a lot!
If we were having coffee, I’ll tell you that you’re getting there!
