So it’s February already and I’ve only been to one gig! I don’t have much lined up this year as of yet but I’m sure more will fall into place.
I kicked off the year with The XX, which I won’t go into too much detail about because I’ve already dedicated a whole post to about it which you can go check out on another page of my blog! But I will reiterate how great it was!
Next up I’m seeing Two Door Cinema Club in TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, which is an awesome venue. It’s pretty small so I’ll get to see a band which play to 8000+ in England in a venue much more intimate. I saw Jake Bugg in the same place last year and was really impressed with the place. I’ve seen Two Door before, but I’m particularly looking forward to this time because I think it’s going to be tinged with nostalgia and who doesn’t like a healthy dose of nostalgia!
Then a couple of months later I’m seeing Glass Animals in the same venue. These have become a real favourite of mine since they released ‘How To Be A Human’. It’s such a great album that is full of sing alongs but at the same time has substance. I’m really looking forward to this show.
I’m finishing my year abroad off with a trip to Lisbon for Nos Alive. Aside from The XX, who I’m very excited to see again, the headliners aren’t massively exciting for me.. But I’ve heard great things about Lisbon and we have rented an apartment a minute away from the Art Lux Factory which I’ve heard has great bars and restaurants and of course art. The under card of the festival excites me, with Alt-J, Glass animals (Again), Phoenix, Cage The Elephant, Blossoms and more. So there is plenty to keep me entertained and I’m sure there’ll be no complaints drinking beers under the Portugese sun!
